Saturday afternoon in the spring sunshine Truro style and Boscawen Park was full. There were canoeists and rowers, football matches, tennis players, ‘expert’ dads and hordes of kids enjoying the flash new play equipment. The place was rammed (but in a good way). Really well used and supported making the hard work that goes into the park by the city council worthwhile. It was nice to hang out with our Penryn friends! We picnicked and watched the rowing and the kids had a great time, not wanting to leave at the end of the day. The best thing was the sunshine! Finally some real warmth in the sun… truly a fantastic spring day in Truro.
Sunday was Mother’s Day so we lined up a little Treat for Claire. We love the Rockpool Cafe at Mousehole and they do a great selection of food and drink. This time we had a full on afternoon tea with crab sandwiches and other savoury delights and a huge stack of cakes which the kids loved! I ate more than my fair share sampling just about everything all washed down with buckets of tea. Sunday was windy yet again (this time Easterly) so it was great to be in the warm cafe watching the waves crash into the rocks below us. The Rockpool is highly recommended as is Mousehole generally for that matter!
The ROCKPOOL CAFE…
R O C K S !
Before our tea we messed around at Marazion again. I went in for a windsurf which was really enjoyable in bright sunshine and a strong cross shore breeze. The kids built another dam and Claire again hunted for tideline treasures. The highlight of our beach visit was when Claire spotted a seal swimming along by the shore. It was enjoying playing with the waves and I guess going with the current down towards Penzance. Lovely to see!
A friendly visitor to Marazion Beach…
We messed around with the time lapse again on the iPhone. The resulting film is quite funny and worth a look. Claire fixed it up on the sun visor in the car and got this video of me rigging up my sail and setting off…
“Watch me rig up and go sailing – loving the iPhone time lapse!”
Cornwall at its Springtime best with Cadmium Yellow fields of daffs and golden light exploding from the water. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now…
PS I just googled Cake by the ocean! That made me smile!
